Caprese Sandwich

A golden, toasted PINZZA™ roll layered with fresh mozzarella, fragrant basil, and marinated sun-dried tomatoes. Finished with a light drizzle of olive oil for a fresh, bright take on a classic Italian Caprese in a warm, crispy handheld.

Ingredients

  • 1 each 3×6.5 fully cooked Palermo’s PINZZA™ roll
  • 3–4 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 4–5 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 Tbsp marinated sun-dried tomatoes (drained)
  • 1 tsp olive oil (finish)

Instructions

  1. Slice the PINZZA™ roll horizontally to create a top and bottom.
  2. Place both halves cut-side up on a screen or pan.
  3. Bake at 475–500°F for 2–3 minutes, until lightly toasted and crisp.
  4. Remove from oven and layer fresh mozzarella on the bottom half.
  5. Add basil leaves and sun-dried tomatoes, distributing evenly.
  6. Lightly drizzle with olive oil
  7. Close the sandwich and slice if desired and serve immediately.
